Residents in Long Term Care (LTC) and patients in Sub-Acute Care (SAC) facilities e.g., Rehabilitation Hospitals, Psychiatric Hospitals, may have multiple medical problems and extended length of stays. Infection prevention and control programs face unique challenges in these settings. Problems with the spread of multi-drug resistant organisms, Clostridia difficile, and compliance with hand hygiene contribute to these challenges. Key measures for prevention of infection transmission are attention to environmental disinfection of high touched surfaces and equipment with Sani-System® hard surface disinfectant wipes and providing Sani® antimicrobial hand wipes for resident/patient and employee use. Because of age and poor skin integrity, residents/patients in LTC and SAC facilities are prone to skin breakdown. The Hygea® patient care products for personal and incontinence care are soft and gentle, contain cleansing formulas with emollients and moisturizers and are convenient to use. Residents/Patients often require special treatment needs or medication delivery. A complete line of skin antiseptics and specialty products are uniquely designed for these special situations of daily care. PDI provides inservice education, continuing education and customer support through its team of sales and clinical experts.
